Holiday decorating

is fun, but very time consuming. I like doing it. I like pulling out decorations that have been part of my life since childhood, letting them transport me back in time. I like seeing the macoroni art nestling next to fine crystal decorations. I like how the evergreen garlands, laced with clear lights, silver plastic balls (so the cats can enjoy batting them without causing damage), and ribbons, light up areas of the house usually dull at this time of year and offset the bleak, early evenings. I like how the Christmas tree glows with hundreds of colored lights and how the sparkly snowflakes I hang on ribbons in the window, swirl lazily, casting interesting shadows around the room and how they shimmer when an unexpected (but most welcome) sunbeam dances in. Yup, I like decorating the house for the holidays.

Yes, it's so magical, isn't it? Red, green and gold - what a deep rich combination. We've got the lights on our tree now. Kelly did them! And she's got a lot of ornaments on too.

She decided this year not to do the "garlic," her term for garland when she was 4, which of course has become a family forever term.

Cheers, decorating buddy!

P.S. My captcha for this is azoof

AZOOF, cool word! What can it mean? A zoof of snow upon the roof?

LOL @ "the garlic" -- I guess vampires won't be troubling you over the holidays ;)

My daughter, when she was four, solemnly told me one day she had a "hagit" which, for her, was headache. So we all use that to this day and it always makes us smile and eases the pain of the "hagit" a little bit.

Yup, we all need a little holiday magic in our lives.

Azoof reminds me of someone slipping on the ice. Used as in,

"Oh no! Look at Sally! She went azoof! Poor thing!"

Glad I'm not the only one who makes up words - lol!

A hagit, cute.

Oh and Kelly, at 3 or 4 (and please stop me if I've told you this before, ya, like you can do that,) had a sore bottom and called it a "radish" (for rash.)

nite!

Hope Sally's ok from going azoof??

Well, Kelly is extra talented as radishes are red, too!

Oh, and Sally is okay. She's got more of a bruised ego than a bruised bottom!
