I took the day off today

and spent it in the garden. The dogs and the cats were good company as we enjoyed the mild breeze, the endlessly blue sky, and real warmth in the Spring sunshine. A full body workout ensued as beds were cleared of pine needles and straggling leaves and the lawn was raked in preparation for tomorrow's aerating. In between loading giant paper bags for the yard waste collection, I tossed rope toys and balls for the dogs who eventually gorged on huge bowls of water and collapsed, panting, in the shade of the pine tree. The cats lolled on the warm wood of the deck, lazily tracking the bird activity. A robin dropped in for a visit (not Attack Robin) on a branch about 15 feet above me and I spent a good twenty minutes snapping some shots. Unperturbed by the animal life below, he primped and preened for the camera.

That sounds like a good day.

I love that first shot of the robin!

Sounds great! Glad you finally got in a decent spring day up there. I did some yard work too- but it was a bit rainy, tho warm.

Great Robin close-ups! Wish my cam would do that.
Your yard work sounds alot more elaborate than mine- I just started,

I can't afford even one day called off work- n too tired to get up early.
Good luck with your efforts, looking forward to seeing results!

Spring has definitely sprung where you are, beautiful robins!

Mama Zen, I needed a day like that. Thanks - the robin was a really willing subject today.

Snaggle Tooth, we have had a real absence of rain so far this April. Really dry and unusual with a crazy up/down temperature thing that has you scratching your head deciding what clothes you need to have on hand.

Joanne, thanks. We're so glad to finally have the odd day of true warmth and the birds are going crazy with their nesting right now.

Don't you just love those total body work-outs from yard work?? All muccles engaged, like in the olden days of the 1850s.

Yes, I have muccles on my muscles!

many many years of yardwork.

Jannie, it's better than 2 hours in any gym. I love it (and I've learned how to ignore the screams, squeals and protests of my muscles - you simply drown them in a hot bath).

Don't you think that the word muscles should be spelled "mussel"?

We have a robin visiting around our home as well. Actually, he's here every spring...this only being the 2nd spring we've been here.

Love the black and white!

Mia, thanks. I love when you recognize the birds that come back in the Spring - even Attack Robin - lol!
