"Better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" is one that more people (especially those in the public arena) should heed. Billy Bob Thornton immediately springs to mind.
T - So you saw that interview too? What is it with people picking on you guys up in Canada lately? I'm a transplanted American up here, but I left my arrogant side back in Philly... I feel bad for you all sometimes.
That interview was just weird. I think my face still hurts from squishing my eyebrows up and wondering wtf?
All I could think was how music seems to really mess up actors (whether for real or not) aka Joaquin Phoenix. It seems to be a bit of a trend. I give full credit to Jian Ghomeshi for maintaining his professionalism. And credit to the band members, too.
I thought the audience was restrained - I would have had to throw something (potatoes? a tin of gravy?) to make Billy Bob Thornton feel at home - but NOT at the people beside me - lol!
I liked your comment about "a fool." Billy Bob Thornton is not only a fool; he seems to be insane. I have a proverb from the Bible that might apply to him: Pride always precedes a fall. His life will change, for the worse, very soon, because of his unreasonable, belligerent attitude.
Take heed, everyone who thinks they're someone they are not. !
A Toronto company creates a humorous T-shirt response to Billy Bob Thornton insulting interview with CBC's Jian Ghomeshi. The design shows a Canadian Beaver looking like a club bouncer, tossing Billy Bob toward mash potatoes and gravy pot - TO GO! www.artik.com/bob/
Switching mediums of stardom would be simpler if their wasn't a pre-set opinion from the acting arena. Singers who go to acting tend to have smoother time with the reviewers...
You're talking about the ticked off interview- TG I don't get PO'd on camera lately!
Anon, if he had simply been gracious, it would have been fine.
Saul, too funny!
Jannie, you'll find the interview at the CBC's Q website.
Snaggle Tooth, I don't how anyone who has been employed in the entertainment industry would think it's possible to deny what their previous work experience was. So many actors have great creative skills in other arenas and don't pretend that the "x" number of years they worked in other fields haven't existed. Tony Bennett (art) and Kevin Bacon (music) are just a couple that spring to mind.
Sometimes this adage holds true, however I have found that in many instances it is better to take the chance of looking a fool rather than keeping silent. As far as Billy Bob, he has made a career out of saying what he thinks. Heck, I didn't even know he was performing in a band until he got some negative publicity.
I would agree. I couldn't understand where that all came from and how the thought process would lead to that. I know he has his "own mind" and does things a little differently...but really. Was that all necessary!

Well, you know, I always get pissed off when people insist on bringing up my Oscars, too!
Mama Zen - LOL!

Billy Bob...I have no words:)
Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha
Mark, I think "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it" could also apply. I guess it's true that "any publicity is good publicity"...
Hi, Stesha! It's okay - Billy Bob had enough for everyone - lol!

Mia, I don't understand either.
