On this first day...

of autumn, I join hostess Patricia, of the lovely blog, Patricia's Wisdom, and many other appreciative bloggers, in raising a virtual glass of champagne in celebration of Barbara Swafford and her terrific blog, Blogging Without A Blog. Barbara's blog is wealth of information and support on blogging and is a fabulous asset to the blogging community.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The world is dipped in silver blue tonight as the full Harvest Moon shines. I couldn't even begin to attempt to capture with a camera the magic in the garden after midnight. Instead, I took the dogs on a midnight stroll and listened to the music of the trees, certain we weren't alone as faeries had to be dancing in the depths of the silver blue shadows.
Full moon, I knew it. Explains my odd urge to grow fur and go howl at the moon.
The full moon - must account for the moodiness around me today. :) Love the sound of your moonlit walk - I had a wee walk, too.
Talon, a great post. First for the tribute to Barbara, who has helped so many through her blog. BWAB is such a wonderful resource for both beginners and long-time bloggers.
I always love the full moon. I missed its rising last night, but caught a glimpse through the trees. A midnight stroll through the garden sounds so magical. Sigh!
Hi Talon.
Outstanding photograph of those apples. You've got me wanting to eat an apple now.
Your words about the Harvest Moon are mesmerizing. I imagine being there in the silver blue shadows and have no doubt there are faeries there. I want to believe they are there.
..faeries dancing...they continue to dance in your poem and i agree - there are things that can't be captured with a camera - we need to paint words
..and i love this apple pic...
You are the apple of my eye today, and I am thinking about making you apple crisp recipe from the Harvest Potluck cookbook - it is so rainy and cold - something warm and sweet...
Lovely writing - though I missed a moonlit walk...
Thank you for your great words in honor of Barbara...what a lovely day
I am so jealous. I couldn't see the Harvest Moon for all the clouds. I love your description of it.
A midnight stroll, hmmmm. I am usually asleep by 9 or 10 at the latest. Can't stay up late any more.
your words are delicious...just like the night!
Love your photo's colors and textures. Yummy, too.
Here's my champagne glass rising to clink with yours and the rest of the bloggers honoring Barbara Swafford today. Much deserved, YES!
Talon -- I liked how you combined the tribute to Barbara with your writing about the Harvest Moon. To me, this is the best of both worlds. BTW the apple pictures are perfect for the tribute and they're gorgeous:~)
then you gave me something special. I love what you said about your stroll in the garden. I didn't get to see the moon last night so your words were my solace.
I especially loved these lines,"...listened to the music of the trees, certain we weren't alone as faeries had to be dancing in the depths of the silver blue shadows." That sounds like a wonderful walk:~)
Fine tribute, my friend, to a wonderfully generous teacher we have in Barbara. :)
Your photo is exquisite in its rich, fiery, autumnal colours, and your Harvest Moon prose caps this all off rather nicely. Fabulous.
Wild Rose, you'd be the Queen! :)
Carol, it was. I love a night walk - feels like you have the world to yourself for a little while.
Joey, thanks!
Marilyn, it was that kind of light - just gorgeous! Thank you!
Shay, I knew I heard some strange noises coming from the east ;)
Brian, I am sure they were peeking at us as we walked by - lol!
Cindy, thank you! That was so sweet!
Lorraine, it was just a photo of an apple. But I'm glad the words sort of made up for the lack :)
Lynn, I wonder if the full moon ever has a soothing effect on people? I'm glad you were out enjoying the moonlight, too!
Ellis, cheers!
Thanks, Someone Is Special!
Thank you, lg :)
Linda, thank you. Yes, Barbara's blog is terrific! I hadn't planned on such a late stroll, but the moonlight beckoned me and it was the only clear skies we've had in a few days so it was a real treat.
Davina, hi! And thank you! I think the faeries are happy that we do believe. :)
Claudia, yes, some things are best just feasted on with our eyes and imprinted in our memories. Thank you!
Patricia, oh, I hope you enjoy it! I'll be making some this weekend as we're going to market and I'll load up on apples - especially our local MacIntosh which are the just the crunchiest, juiciest at this time of year.
Thank you so much, Patricia, for organizing the tribute. You're a super friend. :)
Teresa, I'm sorry you had the clouds. It's been cloudy here every night and that's probably why the moonlight seemed even prettier than usual - lol!
TechnoBabe, I've always been a night owl!
Laura, thank you!
Lori, thanks so much. Cheers!
Sara, thank you. The light was really extraordinary. It probably has something to do with the position of the moon or something...but too beautiful to pass up spending a little time in. The dogs loved it as much as I did. :)
Tony, thank you. I had fun collecting some leaves to put the apples on. Fall colors and apples just go hand in hand in our autumn here.
Ellis, no drinking and blogging...oops...I mean no drinking and driving! lol!
Snaggle, the dogs are great motivators, for sure (and good protection for night walks). I'm glad you got to enjoy the moonlight, too. :)
Thanks, Lance!
Eric, I get the occasional "okay" shot, but I wish I could capture the shadows on nights like that. I see some photographs of the moon and it makes me so jealous - lol!
