Rain disguised in white feather coats
nestles on the window ledges outside
while delicate cyclamen blooms
petals of heart-shaped origami
cast paper shadows in the warm room...
white no longer cold, colorless
but vibrant, joyful life...

So beautiful! My cold bones feel warmer with your vibrant descriptions. Love this.
__I see... reflections in the glass that clothe each raindrop in warmth. Another fine dreamwork, K!
As always. _m
What a beautiful and uplifting poem.
Your picture was PERFECT!
I just LOVE visiting your blog Talon..Always Classy!!

poor birds did you let them in to get in out of the cold.
Yes a white room all warm
The photo is OUTSTANDING. And the words take us from cold and white to warm and white. Always a pleasure to stop by your blog.
ah...beautiful...love your descriptors...the origami petals...and shadows...beautiful indeed....
My cyclamen is a deep magenta colour and I purchased an outdoor variety because I keep the house so cool during the day. I believe your photograph is just stunning and pure
Lovely images here all round
Thank you for sharing
I really wanted to buy the cyclamen I walked by at the market last week...
Snow? white feathery rain, eh? Great metaphor!
We're cold but spared the icy problem so far.
Great to have such blooms to inspire you thru the nasty weather!
You send me to a wonderful magical time and place, thank you Dear Talon
Talon!!
This is fabulous... and I don't even like cyclamen ...
or didn't ,
oh love this.
beautiful imagery in the words... then the flowers.
Delicate and gorgeous!
Lovely words as ever. My poor cyclamen is covered in a snowy blanket, hope it recovers when the thaw comes.
such a beautiful description of winter's gifts. thank you for this deep sigh today.
splendid. white is my favourite colour. i just love it. anywhere and every where.

So serene and uplifting, Talon. I am amazed at the gentle beauty you coaxed from those petals. :)
A lovely description of a cyclamen. Thank you for the peaceful moment.
aww, this is pretty. I love "Rain disguised in white feather coats". My girls screamed this morning when they saw the snow. They are sooo excited, even though it hasn't stuck to the ground yet. Winter is here.
Said it before, say it again, the longer you garden, the more you love white. Cyclamen blooms really do resemble origami, folded and intricate, but your poem gives them even more grace, as it does the frost and snow that is only rain in a fine feather coat. Beautiful.
Wow! I love the photo. Very dramatic. And white can be one of the warmest colors.
Love the photo and words.
Well of course officially white isn't a colour, although I'm not convinced.
Thank you, Teresa! :)
Thanks, D. I always try to romanticize the snow - trying to take the chill off , I think.
Galen, thank you so much. I'm so glad you visit :)
Thanks, Jerry!
Cloudia, thank you!
Ellis, poor birds will have to deal ;)
Leenie, thanks. It was fun playing with the light for the shot. And I'm always delighted to see you :)
Brian, thank you! :)
Oh, I love that magenta color, Patricia. I wasn't feeling well and my hubby surprised me with the plant. It's on my desk and makes me smile every time I look at it. Thank you.
Snaggle, we're having flurries off/on...after a day of rain. No warm temps for the next 5 days or so, so it looks like December is settling in as winter and not the end of autumn. I'm always trying to make snow sound nicer than it is - lol!
I'm delighted you enjoy my ramblings, Lorraine :)
deb, they're one of those plants that look better up close :) And thank you!
Thank you, Laura!
Thanks, Mama Zen!
Mandy, we only ever have ours indoors in the winter. I hope yours survive the snowfall!
Laura, you're welcome. And thank you!
Trisha, white is so clean and fresh and sort of ready for anything, isn't it?
Meredith, taking that shot was my play time today. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
You're very welcome, dear Lynn!
kkrige, thanks. I'm never really ready for winter. I like when the snow comes closer to Christmas. We had more today and it's sticking around. Mind you, it is neat for the kids. I remember how excited mine would get to grab snowpants and snowboots. :)
hedgewitch, thank you. I so agree about white in the garden. I have pockets of it. I love how it glows in the summer evenings. It transforms a space. And now I have the white cyclamen transforming my desk. :)
Nessa, thank you. Yes, white is quite chameleon like. It's fascinating really.
Joe thank you, and, yes, the achromatic, but always intriguing lack of color. Like you, I think it's got more than enough personality to qualify as a color (but I think that about black too - lol).
I love the contrast here between warm and cold. Gorgeous plant - my cat would probably eat it. Can't have house plants for that reason. His favorite is baby's breath whenever I get flowers.
Wow, the photo is amazing - and the words too are beautiful images. Love "Rain disguised in white feather coats..."
Both your photo and words are beautiful.
Talon -- Now that is gorgeous picture and it warms my heart just to look at it.
Then you add the lovely poem. I love how you describe something, like..."petals of heart-shaped origami cast paper shadows in the warm room..." Beautiful:~)
Ooo, I LOVE this!
feather coats, lovely. You do have the poetry in ya, don't ya?! And I'm sure glad you let it out for us all to bask in!!
xoxo
This is a beautiful poem with imagery contained within it. I love the image of cyclamen as origami and can now think of rain in white feathered coats! Thank you!
Linda, thank you. My cats are addicted to these spikey plants I have, but leave others alone. I'm laughing at your cat's taste for baby's breath! :)
gospelwriter, thank you so much!
Thank you, Marilyn. :)
Sara, thank you so much. I had such fun shooting the cyclamen. They are such dainty little flowers. Amazing how a macro shot makes them look so much more than what they are.
Thank you, Jannie. Glad you enjoyed :) xx
Val, thank you so much! I figure the feather coats makes the snow a bit more fun to deal with :)
Talon, Like others have said, I think the way you described snow was brilliant. Breath-taking photo as well. The soft muted tones bring calm and peace to my heart.
This poem is beautiful - such a wonderful description of warm white.
We are surrounded by cold white these days...the whole country seems to be under a layer of snow and the temperatures remain below 0°C all day... Therefore it was wonderful to read about your warm white.
And the picture is simply perfect!
Your most beautiful picture yet! Pure.
Thank you, Sheila. I'm glad you found it that way...it's how I felt writing it. :)
Frieda, thank you. I hope you're out enjoying some skiing in all that white stuff. It makes winter bearable if you can appreciate the snow and the cold. And coming in from time outdoors is always extra special then, too. :)
Count Sneaky, thank you!
I did comment here?
it's floating in cyberspace somewhere I guess,
I wanted to tell you that this was so beautiful,
and that you actually made me like cyclamen .
deb, thank you. Some comments want to be free to wander and look around and rarely seem to come home - lol! My hubby bought it for me. They have a lot of foliage, but the blooms are so delicate...
