She lives in an unfussy house. Beautifully untidy with stacks
of books, cats shrimp-curled on comfy seats, dogs worrying chew toys on faded
wool carpets, a ball of yarn with needles protruding at hand, cheery fire crackling
in the stone fireplace. It isn’t
officially the holidays until you’re there, sipping Earl Grey and nibbling
shortbread.

nice...i like me some earl grey...would not mind a fire...ha my cat is curled at my feet so i got one out of three...smiles.
Ha!!
I have a cupboard full of Earl Grey
I make my own Scottish Shortbreads
The cat is sleeping on my stereo.
Happy Holidays!!
Loved your 55 Talon
Loved your sepia pic.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
What a happy scene you portray here. Perfectly fitting for the holiday season.
I've got everything but the cats--but my dogs would try to eat them so maybe it's just as well. Love this poem, and the sense of comfort it gives.(Your comment on my 55 was quite amusing, as well--that residue...not even Oxyclean works. ;_) )
You just described my house. Except the shortbread tends to be muffin.
I love the scene you have painted here with your words. Gorgeous cat also.
Hi Talon .. loved the photo - I'm jealous of cats .. they can sleep so much! Your barn, barbed wire and dusty field belie its beauty ..
Loved the Earl Grey and shortbread .. cats and dogs may sleep - but boy are they up for nipping in for treats!
Cheers - Hilary
Encantadora fotografĂa para un amante de los gatos...
Que pases buen fin de semana,
Db.
You describe a perfect scene there. Nice one.
I've been nibbling a bit too much shortbread recently, but drinking less Earl Grey. ;)
Lovely header photo!
Sounds like a lovely place to be.
"Shrimp curled Cats" is a great metaphor! I'd like to be there by the fire instead of work anytime! Fancy Tea n shortbread mmm
Nice pic of Stripey, too! So comfy-
Quite an interesting 55
I'm glad for the holiday preview!
I have a somewhat similar scene
but with more dog hair! thanks
Right, when can I come over?
*grins*...it sounds remarkably like our house (we're minus the dogs) and, like G-Man, I too make my own Scottish Shortbread. My Mum is coming over this weekend and I am planning to make a batch...the recipe has been passed down through generations of our family and I cant wait...Christmas is just not Christmas without it!
C x
Cats sure know how to relax - natural yoga masters, too.
Cat (and people) heaven.
Shrimp-curled :oD
Nice..........sweet and my husband likes Earl Grey :)
"dogs worrying chew toys"...Slim is busy looking for her toy. I think she knows the grandchildren are coming this weekend. I know where her toy is but I think I'll wait to get it out of hiding.
Sounds like a perfect holiday scene. Maybe I'll go make some tea...
Sounds lovely to me!
delightful
I was just getting the fire warmed up when the sunshine broke through the grey...now the sky is clear blue and it makes me think of Christmas Day...
Lovely words and warm pleasure
That sounds like the perfect place to be!
What a wonderful comfy scene you've painted. I love the shrimp-curled cats! :-)
I'm jealous of the cat.
Loved this Talon and your cat is beautiful!
Earl Grey, shortbread and cats? Sounds great. Address, please.
You create such a warm atmosphere...it is really like a painting. I love Earl Grea tea by the way :)
Have a wonderful weekend!! (I'll have to work, but will also bake some Christmas cookies)
Lazying on a sunny afternoon
First thing that popped into my head.
AlgĂşn dĂa tendrĂ© 1.000 gatos en casa.
Y la gente me llamará loco.
Y yo seguiré más cuerdo que nunca.
Es la felinidad lo que nos ata al mundo....
Un abrazo,
Db.
Brian, I love when cats double as foot-warmers :)
G, I bet your shortbread is delicious! lol @ the stereo sleeping cat. Missy is right now sunbathing with her head up under a lampshade and Stripey is trying to take owenership of the ottoman. I hope your Holidays are super fine and I have another chance to say - "Happiest of Birthdays!" to you :)
Linda, thank you!
hedgewitch, lol @ the Oxyclean. I once used that on a carpet and it totally took the stain away along with most of the color on the carpet :) Our cats were here first (as they always and completely remind Charlie and Riley) so the dogs just have to put up and shut up (so Stripey says).
Alice Audrey, muffins are good :)
Marilyn, thank you. Stripey says thank you, too :)
Hilary, I read once that cats sleep up to 18 hours a day and I think mine exceed that :) Thanks about the header shot. I hear you on the treats - my animals appear like magic at the slightest sound of anything potentially food-like.
David, from one cat lover to another - gracias! :) Hope your weekend is a beautiful one!
Anthony, thank you so much!
Joey, it's very hard to resist the lure of the shortbread, isn't it? My holiday weakness :) And thank you about the header shot. I made hubby pull over in busy traffic so I could cross the road to get that shot. I love that he's always kind enough to put up with me :)
Lynn, wouldn't it be a lovely place to visit - we could all have a tea party :)
Snaggle, thank you! I tried to imagine a perfect place to curl up and sip tea with friends of the two and four-legged kind. And maybe some lovely horses right outside the windows :)
izzy, thank you. I hear you on the dog hair. We have two dogs (one a long-haired Shepherd) and I swear I vacuum up an entire animal every other day - lol!a
Carol, you can come over any time you want :) Oh, real and genuine Scottish Shortbread is my total favorite! Yummy! So right - Christmas is not the same without it. I will miss my Mom's mincemeat tarts this year. She made the most flakey and gorgeous pastry and I've never been able to replicate it. I will miss her sorely this year (she just passed in September). Christmas will be very bittersweet this year. Hope you have a wonderful time with your Mom. :)
Eric, they are the best, aren't they? The masters at relaxation :)
Leenie, exactly - I imagined the sort of place I'd like to be and put it all in there. Well, I couldn't get horses in there, but I bet they are outside the windows :)
ayala, thank you and that's neat he likes Earl Grey. It's a great-tasting tea :)
Annie, that sounds like a good plan! And I hope you and Ron have a fabulous weekend with the grandkids! Sounds so delightful :)
Thank you, Patti. I hope the tea was delicious :)
Sandy, thank you! It's my dreamscape :)
Thanks, Mama Zen :)
Teresa, whenever I see them curled up, that's what I always think. Thank you :)
KB, aren't they just the most spoiled of creatures? :)
Margie, thanks! That is Stripey, Missy's brother. He's the guy who spends all his time keeping the rodent populations in check...yet always looks so sweet and loving :)
Frieda, thank you. I hope work zips nicely along so you have lots of time to enjoy the cookie baking. Isn't that one of the best parts of Christmas? :)
G, I hope you get to have a lazy afternoon tomorrow :)
David, you will start a new trend as they usually have "the cat lady" in every neighborhood. You will be "the cat man". I know what you mean - I would have more (we have 2). I never tire of watching a cat. They are intriguing creatures. Stripey (in the photo) actually acts more like a dog, but that's because he likes to show off, I think :) Hope your weekend is an amazing one!
It is good to see your photography and the write words back on your blog.
As your are getting back in I am pulling out ( soon)
Your art always inspires dear K
