Serendipity

Their tree hosted a mishmash of ornaments collected from summer garage sales. The gaudy blinking tree topper was their favorite find until spying an angel, jammed into a milk grate; gazing at them serenely, oblivious of her tattered wings, tarnished halo, and torn gown of faded blue. Fifty-five cents later, she had a new home.

I wish for everyone a beautiful holiday season full of amazing moments and a New Year full of wonder.

Very nice. I've had some amazing finds at garage sales, although my 55 this week is of a very different sort of outcome.

I am so used to the epitaphs of "Scrooge" "Grinch" "Buzz kill" "Party Pooper" I am now very comfortable saying "Whatever"

I love this piece! I saved old Christmas ornaments from the dump when my parents divorced way back when. My favorites are those tattered and worn pieces. I wouldn't give them up for anything.

I've had an angel like that--in fact a whole tree...this year just some lights, but Christmas is in the heart, and in the heart of wishes. Merry Christmas Talon, and best of New Years.

What a lovely header; the color is amazing! I like the story about the
55 cent tree topper! I once got a big bag of home made ornaments from Goodwill for about $3.00! I still use them and wonder about whose hands made them all....The are felt and cloth ornaments.

Akelamalu, thank you. And thank you for visiting me and hope your holidays are beautiful!

hedgewitch, so true about the heart. Thank you. I hope your Christmas is merry and the New Year glorious. :)

lg, thank you. The header shot is one of my tree ornaments. My Mom always gave me an ornament on her Christmas gift to me and that was one from about 10 years ago. I have some really old ornaments that I picked up at a flea market years and years ago - like you, I like that there is a shared history. Yours sound lovely - the felt and the cloth :)

Teresa, thank you. Isn't that the truth! :)

Alice Audrey, I'm smiling :)

Patricia, thank you. You're right - it's in the simple things and how we view them! Merry Christmas to you and to Zip :)

Merry Christmas, Sandy! And thank you :)

G, thank you! You know I wish the same for you :)

Margie, thank you. I wish you a blessed and bright Christmas and a glorious New Year full of magic :)

ayala, my wish for you is the same! Thank you! :)

Jannie, thank you! I wish a blessed and beautiful Christmas for you and Jim and Kelly! xxxooo

Blue Bunny!~ so lovely to see you! merrie chrissmiss to you, my sweet blue friend :) xxx

Magyar, I agree - there is beauty in the old that quite often gets overlooked. Thank you. Merry Christmas! :)

Frieda, Merry Christmas! I'm glad you can imagine the angel. When I imagined her, I saw her clearly. The angel we have on our tree is 31 years old - given to me and my hubby by my parents for our first married Christmas so that's why this angel shot is blurry - our angel isn't quite like my imaginary garage find one :)
