Sightless lambent gaze illuminates the corners
where smirking shadows collect
madness it is—or is it lunacy?
scribing poems of the moon
Innocent of the poetry of sinners or saints
January's Wolf Moon receives unblinking
the ravenous wolf's lament...
long notes fracture the silver night

Truly, you make me want to go out and discover my primal self. It is a beautiful moon!
your final lines:
sublime!
and then that moon . . .
you've enraptured me-

Hi Talon .. great words for January's wolf moon ... no wonder mysteries are told on silver nights.
Love the poem and the picture .. thanks - Hilary
A hungry time, January. Cold and unforgiving as the moon, from which to expect a reprieve might just be lunacy. Wonderful header shot(and of the moon of course too.)that makes the tree look as if its exposed roots are trying to feed on the sky.
Wolf moon - that is new to me. Beautiful and ethereal.
Owooooo.....
Waiting for an Ode, or maybe a Lament from sky watchers and dreamers around the World...
Talon doesn't disappoint!!
Like that clear, still shot of the moon. Well written (also.)

Talon, your poem and that picture of the moon are both magnificent!
Loved this one!
Thank you!
I read the poem and then scrolled down to the picture. You never cease to amaze me what you do with words and a camera:~)
Wow. Simply wow..to the words and the photo..thank you:)
I enjoy the unusual, exotic and interesting words you slip into your work. Pococurante, lambent--both sent me on a word search. I also enjoyed the smooth alliteration of all those L's.
I almost fell on my face watching that wolf moon slide out of the sky yesterday morning. No wolf though.
Beautiful capture of the moon.
I am also a lunatic. Photos last night and this morning, Your poem is SO fitting.
Cool moon.
It must be lunacy for after all the billions of years creatures of the earth have looked up at the orb of pull and power we still have words to howl to it.
"long notes fracture the silver night"
That was me singing again, off key.
way cool all the way around
Lunacy indeed, not caring... Haven't heard a wolf howl in awhile here, but we get occassional coyotes. The same moon watched me at work break.
Love how you got a zoom focus without the branches in front of it somehow-
Who could possiby be indifferent to such a sight?
Never heard of the wolf moon. You do know your moons, Talon!
I saw it last night too. It looked like a baloon for a wolf party to me.
xoxo
Ethereal is the perfect description...
I was looking at the moon just some time ago and was amazed by its beauty :)
Y es que la luna tuvo, tiene y tendrá siempre un encantador flujo del que carecen y carecemos el resto del universo...
Encantadora fotografÃa...
Un fuerte abrazo,
Db.
oh my!!
This is so fabulous.
You do capture the loveliness of the moon, both with verse and camera.
'TALON'ted - truly awesome, girl, like a guhroovyishousness, play-on-words. I should give you something, but it's truly difficult when I don't know where you live; however, what I can give you, if you don't already have some, is a seed of faith which'll grow and blossom and turn your thots to the vertical, not the whorizontal --- How I’d looove to kiss your feets and cuddle with you after I brushed my teeth in Heaven. The question becomes: will I need to? HawrHawr Truly, I love you, miss gorgeous, and I don't wanna spend my eternity Upstairs without you. God bless you.
PS How dost I knowest you're gorgeous when I personally didn't see a pic of you on thy blog? Sweetheart, I know for a fact ALL girlsRgorgeous Upstairs, dear; I'll haveta, like, shield my eyes from your ravishness till they get adjusted. See ya soon. Be at peace.
