Rara Avis

“Promise you won’t be afraid to be true to yourself.”
“I promise.”
“And you won’t follow the crowd, but blaze your own trail.”
“I will.”
“And don’t concern yourself with what others are thinking.”
“I won’t.”
“And never forget what Dr. Suess said—‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
“I promise, Mama.”

Talon...
There's some good advice being bantered about here.
But sometimes it's a rare bird that takes it.
Loved your 55
Thanks for your wit, thanks for your Wintery pics...
Have a Kick Ass Week-End

Nifty bird pic! I think I already took that advice... but my Mom never told me that! She wanted me to conform-
That's actually an uplifting 55, I think.

I love the thought of that mama duck and her Dr. Seuss inspired words. :)

Always was more in Dr.Seuss than met the eye. Good association between your dialog and the picture.
(I will now try to prove I'm not a robot . . . )

I need a few more days yet before i can smile about it but once the stitches are gone I should be smiling.

Great advice! great conversation!
thanks- I tripped over love, family and 55- Twice in succession, this week! - both were Gman's fault.

Filled with the wisdom we all need to hear. The little wood duck looks quite happy and unconcerned floating among his larger and most different compadres, too--perfect illustration.

Groovy Talon-you are.
I (just)love Dr. Suess.
I will be your duck today, and
quack-quack...take that advice!
:-)

Dr. Seuss is such a great philosopher and wise man...nice words to share this morning and not just for the young.

Pictures once again just thrilling
Thank you

ps
the August post came in again to my box yesterday - then this one on the 17th FYI

That is fine advice coming from a caring mama
My daughter was the mother in the musical Honk / sounds like the advice her character gave her ducklings

Hugs for a great weekend

Yeah, that's going to happen!

Beautifully written fiction!

(Nothing personal but I do not like your word verification. Certainly it doesn't like me.)

Ahhh, so sweet.

And reminds me of what our lawyer said the other day... "What other people think of you is none of your business." love it! And you.

Funny how Dr. Suess is still so relevant -- maybe even more so-- in our adult years, right?

So enjoyed your piece, and the photo, too, Talon!

TALON said...

Thank you, Paris Foliage.

lol, Shay! Miss dessert?? Bite your tongue, woman! :)

Teresa, thank you!

Brian, thanks!

G, yes, most often advice is overlooked. Glad you enjoyed!

Thank you, Kay!

Cloudia, thank you so much.

Thank you, Anthony!

Thank you, Hilary.

Snaggle, thanks. I wish I could have got a better shot as they are rare here, but I was on a bit of a cliff looking down on the river.

Thanks, Dr.! I hate that new word verification - it takes me several tries to comment.

Walking Man, I hope you continue to heal well and I hope you are smiling now.

izzy, oh, that G-Man tripping us up ;) Glad you enjoyed and thank you!

hedgewitch, thank you. He totally ignored the geese. I liked that he did :)

lg, thanks. Me too on the Suess. :)

ayala, thank you!

Patricia, he was a wise man. Thank you. That's so strange about that August post. I have no idea what glitch is causing that!

Leslie, awww on your daughter being a mother duck :) Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Sandy, thanks. :)

Nara Malone, Mom's can be wise creatures for sure :)

Thank you, D!

Lorraine, thank you!

G, thanks. :)

Linda, thank you so much!

lg, I sure hope so! :)

J Cosmo, isn't that thing the pits? I don't know what blogger is thinking. Why do they always have to mess with things? I can't change the setting either (I have it open to anyone commenting)...so I guess we're stuck with it.

Carol, thank you!

Jannie, who knew a lawyer could be so wise ;) xxx

JGH, I agree. I appreciate him more and more :) And thank you! It's lovely to see you!

I like this snippet of conversation. If only every parent sent their child out in the world with this message:~)

I forgot to say...the photographs are stunning in this post and the last one. Sometimes, it's almost like I have to choose between what your write and the pictures you take. Both are so captivating; I sometimes miss the beauty of one because I'm caught in the beauty of the other:~)
