Seasoned

If life mimics the four seasons
this is autumn
newness of spring distant now
summers of births and bounties past

Like autumn leaves drifting on a brisk wind
collecting in snug corners sporadically
loved ones gather close
before scattering on their way

Yes, and you capture that sense of winter coming well in the last lines...but its nice to know we get a blaze of glory before the snow falls.

Spring, birth; Summer, growth; Autumn, reap; Winter... hope.

I like the country road. It makes me want to go down it.

PS--lord above, but that new word verification is hard to make heads or tails of.

Seasoned is such a good title for the autumn of life. Which makes me wonder what the title would be for winter (getting a little snow on the roof here). I like Magyar's idea that winter equals hope. But I fear it may be either dilapidation or hibernation or both.

That photograph is as thrilling as your prose.

Have you thought about going without word verification? Sonny at 155 dream lane talked me into dropping it and I have been so happy since. If spam manages to get by blogger I just report it in my comments as spam and never see it again.

Interesting comparison! N then the unwritten of Winter being old age... Beautiful leave-color pics! Also a wonderful, huge old barn header pic in the snow.

This made me sad. I've never like autumn, but I think I now prefer it to winter!

I want to *be* in that photo! Absolutely breathtaking, and inviting: to explore, to just be, to savor..thank you for magnifying beauty and dreams!

I love how you have related the seasons of life with the seasons of the year. The pictures are so serene. Just lovely!

Does life mimic the four seasons? On a daily basis or yearly?

You've written such a beautiful story. It's short and simple, yet full of the complexity of emotion of times changing.

I loved the last stanza and how you compared the leaves drifting and collecting in snug corners to the times when our loved ones visit and then leave to return to their lives.

It is exactly how I feel sometimes when my children visit.

Wow, nice! Let's hope there are many many gatherings before scatterings.

And such magnificent photos, as always. That barn is a work of art. Wonder how old it is. At least the 20s I'm thinking but could be way off.

I think I'm just about to hit summer in my years. :) :)

Autumn happened already? I thought is was my lack of a bath that sent everyone to their scattering way. Cool another day wi'out a shower.

Beautiful colors in the photo.. and the essence of the poem is exactly what my mother was telling me today seeing the abundance of relatives and family that had come at my brother's wedding!! :)
